FAQ
Q: What will the contest format and schedule look like?
A:The competition will last from 4:30pm to 9:30pm. It will feature two individual rounds, one team round with 10-minute breaks between each round, and finally a pizza dinner. We will also offer activities and tiebreakers between the final round and the award ceremony.
Q: Will dinner be served?
A: YES! There will be a pizza dinner in between the individual rounds and the team round. Unfortunately, we will likely only be able to offer certain flavors of pizzas for dinner, so we will not be able to accommodate certain dietary restrictions. Please let us know in the student information form what dietary restrictions your students have, so we can attempt to appropriately accommodate.
Q: What should students bring?
A: Students are only recommended to bring pencils and erasers for the test. Scratch paper and additional pencils will be provided during the test. Additionally, students are recommended to bring their own dinner if they cannot eat cheese or pepperoni pizza as well as snacks and water for between rounds.
Q: How many members can be on one team?
A: Teams must consist of no more than 4 members
Q: Do we need to have a teacher or coach attend NMT in person?
A: Yes. Each team needs to have a responsible adult (coach or parent) on site for the duration of the contest. One coach can be responsible for two teams, but if a school is bringing more than two teams, they need to bring enough adults to have one adult for every two teams.
Q: Are calculators allowed?
A: No, the use of devices of any kind, including calculators, are strictly prohibited during all rounds of the competition.
